A week has passed since we held our Marston’s Beer Company Strategy Day under your careful and expert facilitation.
I just wanted to drop you a note to thank you for the way in which you managed the whole event. We had a fairly ambitious agenda, which incorporated team development and the initiation of a new senior manager into the team, together with the exploration of some meaty strategy issues. All this combined with the transactional business of a divisional board!
To do this so fluently over the course of less than 48 hours was a triumph of your preparation, construction and seamless facilitation. I have had many positive comments about the whole event from the team, which I am pleased about. They were very complementary about your role, which was felt to be non-intrusive but pro-actively guiding at the same time. That is quite a trick to pull off. It is obvious to me – and I was watching with a particular professional interest how you handled it– that you had really thought through the balance. Your interjections kept us neatly on track but no-one felt that the debate had been filibustered.
Indeed, we came away with a number of key decisions crystallised, which I have been following up since our meeting.
The team event off the bridge was great fun (for most) but more importantly I thought our reflective walk was a good opportunity to explore some issues in a new environment, which was probably all the more challenging because of the rain.
